Style update: Swimwear key trends 2015

If you are heading off for some winter sun, you will no doubt want to look great around the poolside or while lounging on the beach. Unfortunately, swimwear gives little place to hide those areas we usually try to keep under wraps! So, this year, look your best beach self by opting for flattering, supportive and on-trend swimwear that works to disguise and enhance your natural shape.

In terms of the style of swimwear, there is plenty of choice, from bikinis to tankini, bandeau swimsuits and two-piece vest & briefs.  Always opt for the style you feel most comfortable in and that offers the most support. For those who like the cover-up a one-piece provides but would like to shake things up, look out for swim vests and briefs, as well as looking contemporary, pieces can often be mixed (plain vest with patterned briefs and vice versa), to create different looks.

Extra design detailing such as ruched and contrasting panels and asymmetrical cuts, all help to draw the eye away from those areas we would all prefer to hide. Body shaping panels, which are often built in, work to smooth over lumps and bumps giving support and a more streamlined silhouette.

The colour palette for spring/ summer 2015 sees plenty of vibrant jewel tones including seaside blues and greens and bright, summery corals.  Expect also plenty of animal prints this season; a number of leading brands, including Gottex and Prima Donna have opted for snake, zebra and leopard print in their collections. In fact, pattern generally is likely to be a big trend for 2015, as well as adding interest and colour; a pattern can be a great way to disguise a wobbly tummy! Look out for patterns inspired by nature, intricate mosaics or vibrant ethnic prints.

Of course, no matter how stunning the swimwear at some point you will need to cover up, whether it is to take a stroll across the beach or to head for lunch. To remain stylish, opt for a co-ordinating wrap, dress or poncho. As well as offering you the cover up you need, they will also help to keep you cool.
